What could be better than a Judaica store with the biggest selection of Judaica and Jewish gift items found anywhere? How about a bigger store with more merchandise and a broader selection of daily ritual items, more books by Kehot and Feldheim and more Sephardic artifacts?
When The Golden Dreidle moves to its new location at 725 El Camino Real in Tustin this month, it will expand in both size and scope. “There will be a bigger selection of everything,” said co-owner Shahrokh Ghodsi, who, along with his wife, Julie, has been at the present location in Irvine for 13 years and in Costa Mesa for 15 years before that.
The Ghodsis have developed a reputation for doing everything possible to take care of their customers, answering questions, custom-ordering merchandise and serving a diverse Jewish population. They have also provided a vivid sensory experience for customers by exhibiting colorful and eye-catching items by talented artists and craftspeople throughout the store.
Currently, The Golden Dreidle offers in-store and on-line selections of items including books, toys, groom’s glasses, mezuzahs, kiddush cups, menorot, tallitot, kipot, challah plates, challah covers, seder plates, matzah plates and covers, tzedakah boxes, Shabbat candlesticks and gift items for Jewish celebrations, along with supplies like candles, chocolate coins, wrapping paper and cards. The store has something for every holiday and occasion, including bags and aprons sporting Yiddish witticisms. There is a huge selection of chuppah rentals to match the taste of any bride and groom.
Now The Golden Dreidle will be able to offer more religious items for daily observance, including siddurim, machzorim, tallit katan and Chabad parchments for mezuzot. The goal is to accommodate the needs of Jewish people at every level of observance at a convenient location in Orange County while maintaining the warm and friendly environment that customers have come to expect.
The new location will take The Golden Dreidle’s square footage from 1,450 to 2,200, enabling the store to carry a wider selection of items. It will also provide better parking
Ghodsi said that he had always wanted the store to be closer to the OC Kosher Market, which is across the street from the new location. Now that the timing is right, the store will make the move and bring new offerings to the community.
“We’re really excited about this,” Ghodsi said. “We always look forward to coming to work every day, and now we will be able to serve even more people in the Orange County Jewish community.”
