Celebrating Orange County’s Jewish History

Kurt Epstein, the nephew of Jewish Anaheim businessman William Falkenstein, was born in Germany in 1899 and immigrated to the U.S. in 1909 to work in his uncle’s store. He eventually became the manager and then started his own shop, running it for many years with his wife Blanche. Located at 110 W. Center Street, next to McCoy Drugs, it was a well-known fashionable ladies boutique. Mr. Epstein is also recognized for his home, located at 737 North Clementine Street. This English Cottage style home is a landmark in Anaheim and is part of the Anaheim Colony Historic District. Built in 1925 for the newly married Epsteins, it was sold in 1942 to the Golder family. Today it is known as the Epstein/Golder/Lindquist House and is often part of tours of historic Anaheim.
