Bernie Resnick, pictured here in the front row, second from the left, played guard for the San Juan Capistrano Cougars his senior year of high school. Born in Rochester, New York, in 1935, his family moved to San Clemente in 1951 when Bernie was entering 10th grade. He quickly became involved at the school, playing basketball as well as football, and joined Band, Drama Club, the Rifle Club, the Real Estate Club and the Industrial Arts Club. His parents, Louis and Sarah, ran the family business, Shamrock Cleaners & Laundry, “San Clemente’s Only Cleaning and Laundry Plant,” according to the ad Louis placed in Chimes’ Ranchero, Capistrano High’s 1953 yearbook. Bernie went on to attend Orange Coast College in Costa Mesa.
