Jlife: Tell us about some of the new happenings at Temple Beth Sholom.
TBS: After our fire-related closure and then partial closure due to construction, we are happy to report that everything is open. We have an amazing new indoor space now that is modern and fresh. Our outdoor space is very much enhanced by our garden and patio areas. Our brand-new chapel, which is beautifully lit, is also open, our sanctuary… everything. We are very excited to have people come and celebrate weddings and other milestones with us.
What are some of the ways that Temple Beth Sholom makes weddings and other simchas special? From the moment you walk in and meet us; we like to make sure you feel like family. I really feel that makes us special and different from other venues. When it comes down to your special day, you should feel like you’ve gotten to know us and feel comfortable here. We want this to be a place that you come back to again and again. Also, we make sure that you meet all of our staff prior to your event. We just like to make sure that we have everyone here involved in making your day special for you.
What is the most unique thing you’ve seen done for a ceremony? We’re still waiting for our most unique event! A recent wedding had great drapery and lighting which turned out beautifully. We are one of The Knot venues now so you can view photos of that wedding at theknot.com/marketplace/temple-beth-sholom-santa-ana-ca-970306. We also have a lot of outdoor space to hold a ceremony and reception, so I would love to see an outdoor wedding.
How do you involve parents and couples in the planning process? Well as I mentioned, we try to make everybody feel like they are part of our Temple family. From the time they come on board here to the end of the event and beyond. We are the oldest synagogue in Orange County so we have a lot of returning families. We have many families that have had multiple events here: weddings; birthdays; receptions; and bar and bat mitzvahs (of course). It is very common that an entire family will be part of the whole process.
Please stop by or make an appointment to view the new campus… we would love to set up a tour and meet you. For community events and upcoming open house information please visit www.tbsoc.com. For more information on booking events please e-mail us at events@TBSOC.com or call us at
