Making Connections

An uncertain economy is a great impetus to join a business networking group.  The Orange County Jewish community has two of such groups.  Watch this space for monthly meeting announcements and more.

The Jewish Business Network (JBN) meets every month on the first Tuesday at noon, at the Samueli Jewish Campus in Irvine.  This group is a very friendly, informal forum where business and professional people can network with and meet others in the Orange County Jewish Community.  The purpose of the group is threefold: to promote your business and make referrals to other members, to learn important information from each month’s featured speaker and to make new friends.

Cost is $18 for a kosher, catered lunch, by Blueberry Hill Catering.  There is a special discounted annual membership rate, with associated benefits.  Reservations are a must by the prior Monday at 10 a.m.  Register on www.meetup.com (search jewish business network, in Orange County, to register) or at (949) 250-9990 or at jwwilk@cox.net.

The featured JBN speakers on September 6 are Gini Warner, MA, clinical nutritionist and Chef Ross Harris, authors of the Gluten Free Edge.  Learn about the symptoms of gluten intolerance and the health benefits of going gluten free.  The speakers will discuss how to cook healthy gluten-free meals for you and your family.

Jewish Business Connections (JBC) of South OC meets on the first Wednesday of every month at Chabad Jewish Center of Mission Viejo, 24041 Marguerite Pkwy, Mission Viejo. Join the group to schmooze, learn from the business experts, find new opportunities and make great business connections, network within a safe and friendly community and grow your business.  The group offers a speaker, networking circles and a talk by Rabbi Zalman Marcus on the kabbalah of business.  Light refreshments are served.

On September 7 at 6 p.m., there will be a short business presentation: 5 Reasons Businesses Fail.  Learn five of the most common reasons that businesses fail and hear tips on how to avoid these problems in your business.  The speaker is Molly Donaldson, co-founder of LaunchX.  Donaldson has more than 20 years in business management and is a frequent speaker on the topics of entrepreneurship, starting a business and managing a business well.  She has a special fondness for simplifying confusing topics, organizational effectiveness and streamlining business processes.

The cost is $10 with a special member rate available.  RSVP on meetup.com or get on the mailing list by contacting Alexandra L. Kaplan, MBA, SPHR, Business Consltant, Mark Kamin and Associates, at (310)922-6871 or a.kaplan@mka-world.com.
