News and Jews- Temple Beth Tikvah (TBT) Welcomes Rabbi Mati Kirschenbaum

Temple Beth Tikvah (TBT) in Fullerton, Calif., is delighted to announce that Rabbi Mati Kirschenbaum joined the congregation as lead on July 1, 2023.
Rabbi Kirschenbaum was born and raised in Poland and completed his rabbinical studies in England. He joins TBT after serving congregations in England. In addition to speaking five languages fluently, Rabbi Mati has a strong background in European history.
As of 2020, about 87,000 Jews were estimated to reside in Orange County, according to the American Jewish Population Project at Steinhardt Social Research Institute, Brandeis University, with most residing in southern OC cities such as Irvine, Newport Beach, Mission Viejo, and Aliso Viejo.
Rabbi Kirschenbaum’s appointment to TBT will be central to building Jewish community in Fullerton and neighboring north-OC cities at a time when religious participation is waning across denominations
As reported by the Pew Research Center, religious participation across religions decreased as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic. As congregations grapple with how to attract and retain members and increase participation to pre-pandemic levels, congregational leadership is more important than ever. Rabbi Kirschenbaum infuses his teaching and sermons with deep and meaningful understandings of Jewish texts and tradition.
Rabbi Kirschenbaum is available as a leadership voice for media on topics related to issues in Europe and the U.S., a Jewish perspective on any relevant issue.
