In 2019, a young man carried out a deadly shooting in a synagogue in San Diego to avenge a notorious blood libel case from 15th century Europe. In 2018, Robert Bowers murdered 11 elderly worshipers in Pittsburgh, claiming inspiration from the Gospel of John. The musician, Kanye West conducted a weeks long media campaign seen by millions, accusing Jews of controlling Presidents, corrupting Christian values and enslaving Black entertainers. In Paris, a Jewish phone salesman who lived in public housing was brutally murdered by a gang whose ringleader ordered the abduction and extortion of a Jewish victim because “Jews are loaded with money.” Where do these beliefs come from? Why are they still prevalent today? The 7 Deadly Myths traces antisemitism from its earliest origins to the present day and uncovers the dangerous conspiracy theories that lead people and nations to diabolical acts. Alex Ryvchin’s latest offering is a ground-breaking work that finally answers the questions of how antisemitism takes hold, how it is transmitted and how it can be stopped.
