News & Jews- The Choice is Yours

California’s 47th Congressional District – September 2026

With less than two months until the midterm election, Jewish voters in Orange County face a consequential choice. This cycle is about more than the direction of our state and country – it is about the fight against rising antisemitism and the future of the U.S.-Israel relationship.

California’s 47th Congressional District is one of the races where that choice is starkest. Incumbent Rep. Dave Min faces challenger Jenny Rae Le Roux. Last month, the Jewish Federation of Orange County held separate town halls with each candidate since Rep. Min declined to debate Le Roux directly.

Rep. Dave Min

Rep. Min says he supports Israel’s right to exist and defend itself, while opposing U.S. support for offensive weapons under what he calls the Netanyahu “regime.”

His record tells a more complicated story. In 2023-2024, Min voted for major Israel-related military aid, including the April 2024 supplemental. Since then, his votes have moved steadily in the other direction – increasingly against measures supporting Israeli military capability, and toward legislation restricting offensive weapons transfers.

Min distinguishes defensive and offensive weapons. But his voting record reveals a fundamental tension: he supports Israel’s right to defend itself while voting against some of the military assistance that helps Israel carry out that defense.

Min’s political relationships add further context. CAIR has publicly supported him, and CAIR Action’s voter guide lists him as “Preferred”; CAIR-California’s 2024 scorecard credited him with votes aligned with the organization’s positions during his time in the State Senate. Separately, congressional records related to the Holy Land Foundation case placed CAIR within a broader U.S. Muslim Brotherhood/Palestine Committee structure (a characterization CAIR has disputed). We raise this as documented record, not as a claim about Min himself. Emgage, a Muslim-American Civic Organization, endorsed him in 2024.

Min has also been a visible advocate for Muslim communities in Orange County – condemning threats against the Islamic Society of Orange County in April 2026 and defending the Islamic Center of Irvine in August 2026, calling it a “pillar” of the community.

Jenny Rae Le Roux

Le Roux’s case is more direct. She frames the U.S.-Israel relationship through shared Judeo-Christian values, has traveled to Israel, and puts October 7 – which her campaign calls a massacre – at the center of her position: Israel cannot be secure while organizations committed to destroying the Jewish people remain operational.

Her platform is unambiguous:

• Israel is one of America’s greatest allies in the Middle East.

• U.S. support for Israel should be unwavering.

• Israel has the right to defend itself.

• Hamas should be permanently disarmed.

• She opposes efforts to weaken the U.S.-Israel relationship.

• She opposes the BDS movement.

• She supports expanding the Abraham Accords to Saudi Arabia and beyond.

• She has pledged to fight the rapid rise of antisemitism and supports codifying the IHRA Working Definition of Antisemitism into federal law.

Elections come and go. Candidates change. Headlines fade. This race is about the values we stand behind and the community we leave to the next generation.

According to the 2024–2025 Orange County Jewish Demographic Study, approximately 93,500 Jewish people live in Orange County, including approximately 18,000 in Irvine alone.

We’ve heard both candidates. We’ve seen their positions. We have their records. Now the choice is ours.
